Obituary of Henry Gerald Mizell

Brookfield - Mr. Henry G. "Jerry" Mizell, age 76, of Brookfield, caught the Last Train to Clarksville, surrounded by his wife Victoria "Vickie" (Postorino) Mizell and family at home, on Sunday September 16, 2018.

 

In addition to his loving wife Vickie, of a million (50) years, Jerry is survived by his children, the 3 M&M's (Two plain, one with nuts) : Meredith Schiller and her husband John of Brookfield, Michael Mizell of San Francisco, CA, and Melissa Mizell of Brooklyn, NY, his grandchildren: Mia Steadman, Olivia Steadman and John Schiller, his nieces: Susan Wenner and her husband Robb and Hedda Schupak and her husband James Baum and his great nephew: Matthew Wenner. He was predeceased by his sisters: Corrinne Mizell and Phyllis Schupak.

 

Jerry was born October 16, 1941 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, son of the late Israel and Anna (Gold) Mizell. In his early 20's, Jerry and his Mother moved to New York, citing the need for better bagels and lox. He began his long and rewarding career at IBM there, quickly being recognized as a Great1 amongst problem solvers and system architects and finally retiring after 43 years, as the Head of Data Center Development at the IBM Southbury Facility. Above all he most enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren. 

 

Jerry's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday September 18, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday September 19, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Brookfield. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury. Jerry asked that no flowers be harmed in the making of this event but rather that donations be made to the CT Lottery by buying yourself a LOTTO ticket in memory of him, wishing you all great luck.
