Obituary of Steven Anthony Leone

Steven A. Leone, 21, of Danbury, beloved son of Steven V. and Anita (Hecht) Leone, died at Rhode Island Hospital on Saturday, July 21, 2018.  He was born in Danbury on August 14, 1996, and was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 2014.  In May of 2018, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a Leadership minor from the University of Rhode Island.

Steven will be remembered for his generous smile, compassionate nature, and ability to make others feel empowered. He was the founder of “Humans of URI,” a blog that showcased fellow students.  He was an entrepreneur, co-founding Multimedia Manifested, and worked for Big Fish Promotions, LLC.

Steven was involved in many “causes” that he supported passionately, including protecting the environment and working to foster positive change inside and outside the University of Rhode Island campus through an organization called Thrive URI.  He believed in spreading positivity, and touched the lives of everyone he encountered.

In addition to his devoted parents, Steve and Anita, he will be missed by his four siblings, Juliana, Michael, Christopher and Daniel; his paternal grandmother, Annette Leone; his aunts and uncles, Vincent “Jim” Leone (Remy), Cindy Spencer (Matt), and Lori Pinto (Michael); his cousins, Thomas, Shannon, Matthew, Katie, and Nikki (Sam); and his second cousin, Olivia.  He is also survived by many dear friends and extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 28th at 10:30am at St. Peter Church, Danbury.  Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.  In keeping with Steven’s generous nature of supporting others, the family has established the Steven A. Leone Memorial Fund, in care of Webster Bank, 301 Main Street, Danbury, CT 06810.  In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated and will be donated to one or more of the causes Steven was most passionate about.
