Obituary of Daniel James Gallagher, Sr.
Brookfield - Mr. Daniel J. Gallagher, Sr., age 79, of Brookfield, died Friday June 22, 2018 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Irene (Wood) Gallagher.
Mr. Gallagher was born November 20, 1938 in Port Chester, NY son of the late John and Edith (Banford) Gallagher. He was retired after working for many years as a truck driver withthe Teamsters Local #691 and was a communicant of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield. He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Gallagher proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
In addition to his wife Irene, Mr. Gallagher is survived by his three sons: Daniel J. Gallagher, Jr. of Brookfield, David J. Gallagher and his wife Mary of Bradenton, FL and Patrick S. Gallagher and his husband Blair of Middlebury, his two brothers: John "Jack" Gallagher of Williston, FL and Theodore "Teddy" Gallagher of Bethel, his 5 grandchildren: Brennan Gallagher, Liam Gallagher, Emmie Gallagher, Kaileigh Gallagher and Jack Gallagher and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers: Kenneth Gallagher and Terrence Gallagher and his sister: Lynn Crutchfield.
Mr. Gallagher's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday June 27, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 28, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Brookfield.
