Obituary of Kenneth William Brown
Kenneth William Brown, age 84 of Brookfield passed away on Tuesday May 29, 2018 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Brown was born March 18, 1934 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to the late David and Ethel Hall Brown. He was the husband of Alice Karlson Brown.
Ken proudly served in the United States Air Force tracking missiles during the Korean War and later was involved in Operation Teacup testing nuclear explosions in the Nevada Desert. After serving his country, Ken went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island. He worked as a Systems Project Analyst retiring from Norden Systems in 1991.
Ken was very active in his children’s lives taking them to Disney World, driving the bus for the Brookfield Drum Corp, and cheering his boys on for Pop Warner and high school football. Ken worked on 2 Pit Crews for Danbury Race Arena and enjoyed racing go carts winning first place at age 67! Ken was a fun spirited person who loved his town of Brookfield, vacations to his favorite spot on earth, York Beach in Maine and watching his Lady Huskies play basketball. Above all, Ken loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called him Pop Pop.
In addition to his wife Alice Brown, Ken will be sadly missed by his children: Karen Burns of Virginia; Kathi Corey of Virginia; Douglas Brown and his wife, Julie of New Milford and Jeffrey Brown and his wife, Ann Marie of Brookfield; his sister Eleanor Barrett; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grand children with another one on the way.
Ken was predeceased in 1989 by his first wife and mother of his children, Gladys Corson Brown.
Family will receive friends on July 7th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield.
