Obituary of Collin Donald Rafferty
Collin Donald Rafferty, age 19, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Stamford Hospital, with his loving family at his side.
Collin was born on October 30, 1998, in New Milford, to parents Kevin Rafferty and Kimberly Harrington. A joyful, sensitive, child, Collin brightened the lives of all he met. He was a special boy who taught us all what is important. Despite his special needs, he embraced life with a smile that lit up the room and touched all he met. His parents, grandparents and siblings were devoted to giving him every opportunity to live life to the fullest.
Collin attended school at St Vincent’s Feroleto Center in Trumbull, and was adored by his teachers and caregivers. He enjoyed swimming, listening to music, and hearing his favorite book, Stellaluna. He spent many days at Little Britches farm horseback riding with his grandfather, Don. He also had a special connection with Sandy, the therapy dog.
Collin is survived by his devoted parents, Kevin and Kim; his brothers, David (Jessica) and Tommy; his sisters, Shayna, Kayleigh and Alyssa; his paternal grandparents, Donald and Judy (JuJu) Rafferty; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Webb, predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Kenneth Webb. He was loved by his aunts and uncles, Keith (Jane) Rafferty, Kristie (Ed) McGee, Lisa (Chuck) Gregory, Wendy (Todd) Kadota, Kristin (Matt) Schell, and his many cousins.
His time of this earth was too short for those he left behind but in the words of his favorite song and the story of his life, “I Did it My Way.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church on Monday, May 21st at 10:30am. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
