Obituary of Joseph Francis Moker, Sr.
Joseph F. Moker, Sr., 80, of Brookfield, beloved husband of MaryLou (Romaniello) Moker, died at his home on Friday, December 22nd. He was born in Stamford on June 2, 1937, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (O'Grady) Moker.
He retired from Northeast Utilities after 35 years of employment. Upon retirement, he worked as a custodian for the Bethel School System.
Joe always kept busy, working on home projects, tinkering with anything that needed (or didn’t need) fixing, and working in his garden. He was an avid football fan, especially his Colts.
He was a loving husband and father who was devoted to his family. From the moment he met MaryLou as a teenager and throughout their nearly 61 year marriage, she was the love of his life.
In addition to MaryLou, he will be sadly missed by his five children, Joseph Moker, Jr (Kathy), George Moker (Laura), Lori Moker, Lenore Racenet, and Kevin Moker (Josephine); his thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Maureen Fedele (Ralph), his sister-in-law, Barbara Brouilette; three nieces and one nephew.
He was predeceased by his infant son, Michael; and his granddaughter, Emily Racenet.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 30th at 10:00am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Friday, December 29th between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Praxair Cancer Center for their loving care, especially Dr. Mike Cohenuram and Megan.
