Obituary of Richard Allison DuBois

Richard A. DuBois, Sr., 75, of Sherman, beloved husband of Josephine (Cocozza) DuBois, died peacefully, surrounded by his family at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, after battling complications brought on by pneumonia.  He was born in Rutland, VT on May 19, 1942, son of the late Joseph and Natalie (Matot) Dubois.

In his early teens, Richard moved to Staten Island, NY where he attended New Dorp High School.  It was there that he met his high school sweetheart, Josephine, with whom he recently celebrated their 54th anniversary.

Richard graduated from NYU Business School, served in the National Guard, and worked as a corporate benefits director for several large corporations over the years.

His proudest achievement was the family he raised and he was blessed to spend his retirement years surrounded by them and traveling with his wife whenever they could.  He was also an active member and Associate Pastor at Faith Church in New Milford.

His passing was sudden but his family is comforted by their faith, and his.  They look forward to seeing him again in glory.

In addition to his wife, Josephine, he will be sadly missed by his son, Richard A. DuBois, Jr. and his wife, Lisa; his daughter, Lisa Santora and her husband, Frank; his three grandchildren, Nicole and Joseph Santora, and Allison DuBois; and his brother-in-law, Louis Cocozza.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at Faith Church, 600 Danbury Road, New Milford, on Sunday, September 24th at 2:00pm.  The family invites those who loved Richard to attend.

Interment will take place at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Faith Preparatory School, where his grandchildren attend and his wife served as a past principal.
