Obituary of Virginia Martha Gallo

Virginia M. Gallo, age 82 of Brookfield died on Thursday May 4th at Masonicare of Newtown. She was the wife of Robert J. Gallo.

Virginia was born August 4, 1934 in Suffern, NY the daughter of the late Frank and Elvira (Peterman) Henning. She graduated nursing school as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and was employed with Manhasset Medical Center, Glen Cove, NY.  Virginia was an attending nurse to her husband Robert J. Gallo while he was a patient at Manhasset Medical Center.  They were wed on June 4, 1961, and were married for 56 years. Residing in Brookfield, Virginia and Robert were parishioners of Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield, and volunteered on social committees for church events, and weekly bingo.

 In addition to her loving husband, Virginia is survived by her four children: Christine Cummings, Linda Mills, Michael Gallo, and Daniel Gallo and his wife Sabrina, six grandchildren: Courtney and Emily Mills, Michael Cummings, Tristan Gallo, Donovan and Brayden Gallo, her two brothers Raymond Henning and his wife Lauretta, Steven Henning and his wife Barbara, nephews Paul and Thomas Henning, niece Alison Milan.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday May 12th at 11:00am at Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield.  Burial will follow at Saint Peters Cemetery, Danbury.  A Memorial Reception will take place on Friday May 12th at Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Rd, Bethel CT from 5pm to 8 pm.

The Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, is in charge of arrangements.

Donations can be made in Virginia’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Masonicare Home Health and Hospice (Newtown, CT) and Western Connecticut Home Care (Danbury, CT).
