Obituary of Sr. Marie Buckley, CND
Sr. Marie Buckley, CND (Mother St. Agnes Teresa) died peacefully at Andrus Retirement Community in Hastings on Hudson, New York on Sunday evening, October 29, 2017. She was born in Waterbury Connecticut on September 22, 1927 the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Elizabeth Buckley. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by eight brothers and sisters, including Sr. Anne Buckley, CND. She is survived by several loving nieces and nephews and their families.
Sister Marie entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1925 and celebrated seventy years of religious profession on August 20, 2017. Sr. Marie is remembered as a generous companion by all who shared community life with her. She was highly respected as a dedicated and caring teacher of young children from 1947 until her retirement in 2015. Her ministries included elementary schools in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey and Illinois. For the last forty years of her teaching , she served as second grade teacher at St. Cecilia School in Stamford, Connecticut.
Sr. Marie will be waked at Villa Notre Dame , 345 Belden Hill Road, Wilton, Connecticut on Thursday, November 2nd from 3 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 3rd at Villa Notre Dame at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow the funeral Mass at Old St. Joseph Cemetery in Waterbury, Connecticut.
