Obituary of Angelina V. Coelho

Angelina Coelho, Longtime resident of Maplewood at Danbury, passed away Tuesday October 17, 2017 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  Angelina was born October 27, 1926 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to the late Joseph and Leonia Vale Coelho. Angelina was a devoted daughter, caring sister, and loving aunt who will be deeply missed. She was for the last eight years the Matriarch of Maplewood at Danbury an active assisted living community. She greeted each visitor who walked through the doors with grace and a special pride. Angelina loved her Maplewood family beyond words.

Angelina graduated from Danbury High School and worked for 20 years at the Danbury Rubber Company as a Bookkeeper.  Angelina along with her sister, Liuntina Cruz, started the Lee-Ange Manufacturing Company and ran their business for 25 years. She then worked for the City of Danbury as bookkeeper. Angelina was an active member of the Danbury Portuguese community and the St. Gregory the Great Church.

Angelina will be missed by her nephew Philip Cruz and his wife, Sandra of Newtown; her niece Sandra Smith and her husband, Robert of Newtown; 4 great nephews and 3 great nieces: Amanda Rosa and her husband, Michael; Hollee Chontos and her husband Jeffrey; Christopher Smith, Gregory Smith and his wife, Meghan and 9 great-great nephews and 2 great great nieces.  In addition to her parents, Angelina was predeceased by her sister, Liuntina Cruz, and her great nephew Andrew Cruz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday, October 23rd at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd., Danbury.  Burial to follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 22nd from 2:00-5:00pm at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury.
