Obituary of Dolores Walsh
Dolores Hufnagel Walsh, age 95 of Bethel, peacefully passed away on Saturday September 2nd at her home. She was the proud wife of the late John Walsh.
Dolores was born April 22, 1922 in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (McLaughlin) Hufnagel. She was raised and educated in Yonkers, NY. Dolores and John relocated to Brewster, NY in 1960 where they raised their children. Dolores was an active member of Saint Lawrence O’Toole Parish. She relocated to Danbury, CT in the late 1970’s and then to Bethel, CT in 1989. Dolores was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Saint Mary Church in Bethel, CT.
Dolores was employed by the Barden Corp, Danbury, CT for 22 years, she worked in the accounting dept. and cultivated lifelong friendships there.
Dolores cared deeply for everyone she knew, whether you were family, friend or a member of the community. She was always willing to help anyone in need, put everyone’s needs ahead of her own- the true definition of selfless. Dolores’ laugh was among the most beautiful-she always loved a good joke and her sense of humor was incomparable.
Dolores is survived by her three daughters: Mary Thompson of Danbury, Jacqueline Martino and her husband John of Brookfield, Alice Corbett and her husband Kevin of El Dorado Hills, CA, one sister: Arline Watson of Bethel, CT one sister in law: Ann Hufnagel of Pleasant Valley, NY, seven grandchildren: Michelle, Marilou, John, Meredith, Melissa, Andrew, and Gabrielle, seven great grandchildren: Amanda, Sean, Jake, Erin, Jayme, Dalton and Jack. Many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband John, Dolores was predeceased by her siblings Andrew, John, Joseph and Alice.
The family will receive friends in the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, CT on Friday September 8th from 5 thru 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday September 9th at Saint Mary Church, Bethel. Interment in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Yonkers, NY will be private in the weeks ahead.
