Obituary of Stephen Hinman Pickens

Stephen Hinman Pickens, age 70, of Redding passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday June 28, 2017 at the Danbury Hospital.  He was born November 17, 1946 in Norwalk to the late Henry and Madeline Pickens. Mr. Pickens was the loving husband of Dorothy Wirth Pickens.

Stephen was an Engineer with many interests and career paths, including displaying car parts for Moroso at Nascar races and as a journalist for the Combustion Engineering Magazine. In addition to his passion for Nascar, Stephen was an avid reader and enjoyed car shows. He was a member of the Connecticut Seaport Car Club, Bridgeport Lions Club and Unity Hill UCC in Trumbull.

Stephen will be sadly missed by his wife Dorothy;  son Andrew and his wife, Alison of Monroe and his Grandchildren: Alicia, Brianna, Ashlar and Tyler Pickens.  In addition to his parents, Stephen was predeceased by a son, Michael Pickens.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on Sunday July 2, 2017 at the Unity Hill United Church-Christ, 364 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.  Memorial contributions may be made in Stephen's honor to the Bridgeport Lions Club, 65 Wells Rd., Monroe, CT  06468 or Unity Hill UCC.
