Obituary of Douglas Edward Howley
Douglas E. Howley, Sr., age 61 of Danbury died on Thursday February 2nd at his residence.
Doug was born in Danbury July 8, 1955, the son of the late William M. Howley Sr. and Elizabeth (Kernick) Howley. A lifelong resident, he was a graduate of Danbury High School, and had attended Nichols College in Dudley, MA. Doug was a volunteer firefighter with the Germantown Volunteer Fire Department, and was later employed as a firefighter with the City of Danbury Fire Department for 22 years, retiring in 2002.
Doug is survived by his son, Douglas E. Howley Jr. of Shelton, a firefighter with the Greenwich Fire Department, his daughter, Elizabeth A. Howley of Shelton, and his step sister, Susan Van Sauter and her husband Fred of New Fairfield. He is also survived by his other step sisters, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his step mother, Madeline Howley, and his brothers William M Howley Jr. and John Howley.
A memorial gathering and visitation will take place on Friday February 10th at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury from 4 thru 6pm.
