Obituary of Ellen Barwick
Ellen Focken Barwick of Newtown died at home on February 25. She was born on March 12, 1923 in Colman, SD to Bernhard and Anna (Muller) Focken.
Ellen grew up in Chicago, IL and later moved to San Fransisco to take a position as a telephone operator. After marrying she moved east and raised a family in Upper Saddle River, NJ.
Ellen was an avid bowler with a competitive spirit. She worked as assistant manager at Interstate Lanes in Ramsey, NJ where she greeted everyone with a smile. She later took a job with Lederle Laboratories where she worked until retiring to Andes, NY and later to Edgewater, FL. In addition to bowling she enjoyed cross stitch, knitting and mysteries. Ellen moved to Newtown in 2005 to be closer to her family following the death of her longtime companion, Cono Argentina.
She leaves behind her sons: Michael Barwick and Robert Barwick, daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Wayne Stokes, three grandchildren: Corey and Benjamin Stokes and Christopher Barwick, brother in law: Tom Seversen, and three nieces: Nancy Woeshnick, Ellen Handschke, and Ingrid Hemesath.
Along with her parents Ellen is pre-deceased by her sister, Helga Seversen and long-time companion, Cono Argentina.
