Obituary of Kathryn Conolly Igoe

Kathryn Conolly Igoe September 10, 1923 - December 24, 2004 Kathryn Conolly Igoe, 81, died peacefully in her Brookfield home on Friday, December 24, 2004 surrounded by loving family and devoted caregiver, Yaa Pokuaa. Kathryn was born in Belle Harbor, New York, on August 10, 1923. She, and Bill the love of her life, lived in Scarsdale, NY most of their married life before moving to Brookfield in 1987 when he retired from dentistry. She has been a widower since her husband Bill of 50 years passed away in 1998. She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. Her happiest moments were spent with her family and five grandchildren. When her children were growing up, Kay volunteered at their schools, serving on the PTA board, participating in fundraising, and serving as a leader of a Girl Scout troop. After moving to Connecticut, Kay served as a volunteer at the Danbury Hospital where she worked in the gift shop. She actively coordinated a network of friends and supporters in the collection and rehabilitation of hundreds of stuffed animals which were subsequently distributed to needy children. Kay also served on the Board of Directors of Stonyhill Village and she was a parishioner at St. Joseph's Church in Brookfield. Her memories and legacy are carried on by her loving family and friends. Kay is survived by her brother, Dr. Thomas Conolly and her four children: Lorraine Igoe of Brookfield, Kathryn Igoe of Chevy Chase, MD, William of Staten Island, NY, and Gregory and his wife Karen of Londonderry, NH. Her grandchildren are Laura and Leigh Hickey, Kevin Miller, Christopher and Lynn Igoe and her nieces Victoria and Tara Beth and her nephews Thomas and Patrick. Funeral Information Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St, Danbury, CT, on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 from 4:00 PM -8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield, on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Queens, NY.
