Daniel S. Hatch Jr., 95, of Brookfield, beloved husband of 70 years to Ruth Hatch who predeceased him on January 18th, passed away Wednesday, February 1st at the New Milford Hospital. He was born January 8, 1917 in New York, NY, son of the late Daniel S. and Charlotte (Kast) Hatch Sr.
Daniel worked as a carpenter and home builder throughout his life. He loved his work and never completely retired. Daniel was a proud WWII Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific, 1886th Engineer Battalion. He was a lifelong area resident and often described his childhood before Candlewood Lake and the good early times on the lake with family and friends and he became an avid fisherman.
He leaves two sons, William of Brookfield and Kenneth and his wife Patricia of Hebron, NY; his granddaughter, Amanda Fuller and her husband David of Bethel; two sisters-in-law, Chris Ticehurst of Pownal, VT and Esther Shanley of Vernon; as well as several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held in the Central Cemetery in the spring. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM on Monday, February 6th at Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield. Donations Information
