Steven E. "Gumby" Hanford, 50, of Ta'Agan Point Road, Danbury, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 25th. He was born in Danbury on June 30, 1954, son of Earl and Laura (Schultz) Hanford, of Danbury. He attended both Henry Abbott Technical School and Danbury High School.
Steven worked as a union carpenter for the Local 210. He enjoyed bowling, boating and being on the lake. He lived a simple life and was a loving father. He had also played softball, alongside his father in a Danbury Softball League.
In addition to his parents, Earl and Laura Hanford, he is survived by his son, Alan Hanford and his fiancée, Jill of Naugatuck; his daughter, Taylor Hanford of Ansonia; his sisters, Kathy Mallette and her husband Wesley of Danbury, and Cindy Santoro and her husband, Tony of New Milford. He is also survived by his first wife, Sharon (Gette) Hanford of Fairfield, and his second wife, Dawn Hanford of Ansonia as well as numerous cousins and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, November 30th at 10:00am. Burial in Great Plain Cemetery will follow.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening between the hours of 5 and 8:00pm.
