Ruth R. Baker June 19, 1910 - January 04, 2005 Ruth R. Baker, age 94, a resident of the Village at Brookfield Commons passed peacefully into heaven on Tuesday, January 4, 2005. She was the wife of the late David W. Baker. Mrs. Baker was born in Bayonne, NJ on June 19, 1910, a daughter of the late Harry and Helen (Stickland) Robinson. She was a member of the 1927 graduating class of Danbury High School, the first class to graduate from the then new high school on White Street. Mrs. Baker was an officer of the David W. Baker Insurance Agency, an independent insurance office that she and her husband operated for almost 35 years. She was an accomplished bridge player as she and her husband won many Duplicate Bridge Tournaments over a span of 50 years. Mrs. Baker is survived by 3 daughters: Jacqueline Wetmore and her husband Donald of Brookfield, Jocelyn Baker of Rapid City, SD, and Joyce Scalzo and her husband Peter of Brookfield; 11 grandchildren: Lorna Bufkin and her husband Ray of Brookfield, who currently own and operate the David W. Baker Insurance Agency in Danbury, Jinny Brittingham and her husband Scott of New Milford, Bryan Wetmore and his wife, Loren of New Milford, Pam Neuman and her husband Chip of Ridgefield, Douglas Mortimer and his wife, Helen of San Diego, CA, David Mortimer and his wife Angie of Rapid City, SD, Jill Kovacevich and her husband Guy of McCoy, CO, Belinda Samuel and her husband, Larry of Brookfield, Paul Scalzo and his wife Andrea of Brookfield, Peter A. Scalzo and his wife Leslie of Brookfield, Vicky Scalzo of Boca Raton, FL; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen Terry. Funeral Information Private funeral services will be held at the discretion of the family. The Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield is in charge of arrangements.
