Obituary of Salvatore Giumarra
Salvatore Giumarra
June 22, 1923 - April 24, 2010
Salvatore Francesco Giumarra, age 86, formerly of Danbury, died on April 24, 2010 at his home in Eustis, FL. He served in the Navy during WWII.
Sam was born in Bridgeport on June 22, 1923, a son of the late Frank and Sadie (Drago) Giumarra. He attended Bronx public schools. A meat cutter by trade, Sam worked in the family meat market with his brothers and extended relatives as a young man. Throughout the years, Sam had many careers: hotelier, car salesman, restaurateur, tow truck operator, tree service employee and many others. In each of these positions, it was his gift of gab and amiable personality that made him successful and a friend to all he encountered. Sam had an incredibly big heart and always helped those less fortunate than himself. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be remembered for his loving and caring ways and playful sense of humor.
Mr. Giumarra is survived by his four children: Frank (Patricia) Giumarra of DeLand, FL; Francine (Sammy) Klug of DeLand, FL; Deirdre (Larry) Doheny of Holly Springs, NC; and Robert Giumarra of Oviedo, FL; two brothers: Frank (Peggy) Giumarra of Danbury and John (Christine) Giumarra of Stafford Springs, CT; seven grandchildren: Laura Taylor; Brian Klug; Jennifer Giumarra; and Daniel, Brian, Kevin & David Doheny and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Rose Giumarra and a brother Charles Giumarra. Funeral Information
