Obituary of Helen A. Babiyan

Helen A. Babiyan February 18, 1920 - March 08, 2005 Helen A. Babiyan, 85, of Pumpkin Hill Road, New Milford, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 8th at her home. She was the wife of the late Andrew Babiyan. Helen was born in New Milford on February 18, 1920, daughter of the late Paul and Sophia (Gabrys) Michalek. She was a graduate of New Milford High School, Class of 1937 and was Valedictorian of her class. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Harts 5 & 10 from 1938 until its closing in October of 1998. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lakes Church in New Milford. She is survived by her brother, Walter Michalek of New Milford; her sister, Dorothy DeCosa of New Milford; three nieces, Sandy DeCosa of Waterbury, Marcy DeCosa of New Milford, and Ann Marie Ferrigno of Sarasota, Fl.; her five nephews, James Babiyan of Warren, Edward Babiyan of New Milford, Paul Babiyan of Bethlehem, Ronald Michalek of New Milford, Fred Michalek of Florida; as well as several grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, Helen will be missed greatly by a large number of friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Michalek, Jr. and Fred Michalek; and her sister, Blanche Babiyan. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 11th at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Lakes Church in New Milford. Burial will take place in the Spring in St. Francis Cemetery, New Milford. The family will receive friends on Friday morning between the hours of 9:30 and 10:30am at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT. 06804.
