Obituary of Rhodaett A. Fairchild

Rhodaett A. (Sharra) Fairchild January 10, 1914 - February 02, 2004 Rhodaett A. (Sharra) Fairchild, Danbury resident and longtime sportswoman, died peacefully on Monday at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph W. Fairchild, Sr.. They were happily married for more than 65 years. She was born in New Milford on January 10, 1914, daughter of the late John O. and Anna (Ohnemus) Sharra. In her younger years, Rhodaett was an outstanding high school basketball player and a champion Fly Fishing Fly Tier. She and her husband fished for Atlantic Salmon in Canada every year for nearly 35 years. They also trained and entered their fine English Pointers in Field and Track throughout Southern and Northern New England. Mrs. Fairchild worked for over a decade in the Danbury Hospital Physical Therapy Department. She was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Fairchild will be sadly missed by her four sons, Joseph W. "Billy" Fairchild, Jr. of Danbury, Richard and his wife, Carolee of Roxbury, George and his wife, Karen, of New Milford, Gordon and his wife, Eleanor, of New Milford; her cherished daughter, Rhoda Peck of Woodbury. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; four sisters, Jacqueline Gilman, Phoebe Sprindis, Beverly McGuire, and Barbara Steinhauer; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, George and sister, Georgiabelle. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday, February 5th at 11:00am. Burial will follow beside her beloved husband, Joseph, in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, at 10:00am at the funeral home.
