Obituary of Salvatore C. DeStefano

Salvatore C. DeStefano December 29, 1915 - February 20, 2004 Salvatore C. DeStefano, 88, of Birch Road, New Fairfield, devoted husband of Grace (Gattuso) DeStefano, died on Friday, February 20th in Hollywood, Florida. He was born in Trenton, NJ, on December 29, 1915, son of the late Pasqual and Josephine DeStefano. Mr. DeStefano was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army Air Force. He later worked for the United States Postal Department in the Bronx, NY. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield. He enjoyed membership with the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge, the Knights of Columbus, and AARP. He was an active member of the Danbury and New Fairfield Communities, volunteering for the Danbury PAL, American Cancer Society and Candlewood Theater. He loved to travel the world with his wife, often visiting exotic locations. Besides his cherished wife of more than 60 years, Grace, he will be sadly missed by his daughter, Grace Nicoletto and her husband, James of East Norwich, NY; his son, Richard DeStefano and his wife, Gretchen of Orange, CT; six Grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Florence Rapisardi. The members of the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge will meet on Friday at 7pm to pay their respects to Mr. DeStefano. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 28th at 9:30 am, at St. Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Friends may call on Friday, February 27th at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, between the hours of 2 and 4pm and 6 to 8pm.
