Obituary of Vito Casarella

Vito Casarella August 08, 1912 - February 06, 2005 Vito Casarella, 92, of North Birch Hill Road, Patterson, NY, devoted husband of Dora (Rossi) Casarella, died at Putman Hospital on Sunday February 6th. He was born in Newark, New Jersey on August 8, 1912, son of the late Thomas and Maria Casarella. Mr. Casarella was a skilled Stone Mason, Brick Layer and Cement Finisher who worked both privately and for the Union. He was a member of the Local 5 Brick Layers & Allied Craftsmen in Poughkeepsie, NY., the Cement and Masons Local 780 in Flushing, NY., and was an honorary member of the VFW in Yonkers, NY. In addition to his wife of 73 years, Dora, he is survived by his son, Thomas V. Casarella, Sr., and his wife Marie of Danbury; his daughters, Dolores Morra of Somers, NY., and Rose Marie Romano of Port Chester, NY; his grandchildren, Thomas, Jr., Victor, Joseph, and Suzanne Casarella, Thomas and Debra Morra, Vincent and Victoria Romano. He is also survived by his brother, Emidio Casarella and his wife Rose of Barnagat, NJ; his sister, Dalma of Italy; his sister-in-law, Lena Casarella of Yonkers, NY.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 9th at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, Hawthorne, NY. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 8th at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm.
