Obituary of John W. Yurick

John W. Yurick June 11, 1940 - August 01, 2005 John Wayne Yurick, age 65, of Brookfield, died peacefully on August 1, 2005 at home. He was the son of John and Isabelle (Patterson) Yurick. He was the husband of the late Grace (McCarthy) Yurick and the late Christina (Graff) Yurick. He was born in Danbury on June 11, 1940, the only child of John and Isabelle currently of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was a member of the 1960 graduating class of Abbott Tech. John then joined the Air Force serving as a member of the Military Police. Upon his return, he married Grace McCarthy and they had two children. He was devoted to Grace until her death in 1989. John was a Connecticut State Police officer and a Bethel policeman. He worked for 30 years as a service technician for the Overhead Door Co. of Danbury. Most recently he was a customer service representative at Home Depot in Danbury. A man of many interests, he was a member of the American Legion Post #60, Sokol Lodge #30, the Carpenter's Union Local #210, and he was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Brookfield. He enjoyed a good game of golf and boating on Candlewood Lake. In 1991 John married Christina Graf and they enjoyed each other's company until her death in 1996. Besides his parents, John is survived by two children: Matthew Yurick of Park City, Utah, Julie Grieco and her husband Mike of Danbury; two stepsons: John Brauchler of Boston, MA and David Brauchler of Salinas, CA; and two granddaughters: Frances and Hannah Grieco; and several aunts and uncles. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at 10:00 am. at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield, CT.
