Obituary of Richard M. Bourdeau

Richard M. Bourdeau March 23, 1939 - February 05, 2005 Richard M. Bourdeau of Milford, CT died Saturday February 5, 2005 following a long illness. His wife, Barbara, and three sons, Richard Michael of Woodbridge, James Randall of Cheshire, and Robert Stanford of New Haven, as well as very special daughters-in law and four grandchildren survive him. He is also survived by his mother, Rita Bourdeau of Danbury, brother Rodney and his wife, Wilma of Danbury, sister Regina O'Connell and her husband Bud of Venice, Florida and sister, Renee Drake and her husband, Tom, of Tallahassee, Florida. He is predeceased by his father, Roland T. Bourdeau. Born in Bridgeport, CT Richard lived in the North East Kingdom of Vermont during much of his youth. He relocated to Connecticut with his family in 1955 and graduated from Milford High School in 1957. A student athlete who excelled in football, Richard attended Bucknell University and graduated from the University of Bridgeport with a degree in accounting. As a Certified Public Accountant, he maintained a private practice in Milford until just prior to his death. Also a Certified Senior Advisor and one of the first individuals in the country to be credentialed as Certified in Long Term Care Insurance, Richard concurrently maintained an agency dedicated to assisting clients in providing for long-term health care needs. Throughout his adult life he was active in civic affairs and several local service organizations. At the time of his death Richard was a member of The Milford Rotary Club and The Milford Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife (former owners of Chamberlain Ambulance Service) jointly received the Milford Chamber of Commerce Life Time Achievement Award for service to the community. Funeral Information Funeral Services from the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, Milford. Interment will be in Richard's beloved Vermont at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at Cody-White Funeral Home on Tuesday between the hours of 4 and 8pm.
