Obituary of Fred L. Sutherland

Fred L. Sutherland March 07, 1955 - January 22, 2005 Frederick Lee "Fred" Sutherland, 49, of Stony Farm Lane, Brookfield, devoted husband of Paula (Sinner) Sutherland, died unexpectedly at Danbury Hospital on Saturday, January 22nd. He was born in Pontiac, MI, son of the late Fred A. & Catherine (Hewitt) Sutherland. He graduated from General Motors Institute (Kettering University) with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Management. Fred was the Regional Commercial Manager of the Northeast Region for General Motors. He loved his job and was a loyal employee since 1973. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and golfing. Most importantly, Fred was a funny, loving husband and father. He loved to cook for his family and friends. He was a supportive and proud father to his sons and daughter. He will be sadly missed. In addition to his wife of 23 years, Paula, he is survived by his cherished children, Jason F. Sutherland who is currently a student at the University of Illinois, Rebecca J. Sutherland, and Douglas G. Sutherland; his sister, Susan O. Cardwell and her husband, Dan of Springfield, MO; and his brother, Gregg Sutherland of Florida. He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, George and Jane Sinner of Fargo, ND; his brothers and sisters-in-law; his numerous nieces and nephews; his many friends; and the family pets, Molly and Felicia. Funeral Information A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 27th at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield, at 10:00am. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday, January 26th between the hours of 5 and 9:00pm. Donations Information In Lieu of Flowers, a scholarship fund will be set up at Brookfield High School in Fred's memory. Donations may be sent to the "Fred L. Sutherland Scholarship Fund," 5 Stony Farm Lane, Brookfield, CT 06804. Memorial Contributions in his memory may also be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, Connecticut 06492.
