Obituary of Concetta Saunders

Concetta "Tina" Saunders February 22, 1920 - March 16, 2005 Concetta Rita Saunders, age 84, of Danbury, died on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Danbury Health Care. She was the wife of the late Lionel Saunders. Mrs. Saunders was born in Bridgeport, Ct on July 22, 1920, a daughter of the late Rosario and Jenny (Tufano) Gallo. She was better known as "Tina" because she was only one and a half pounds at birth; she was lovingly taken care of at home by her parents and siblings. A long time Danbury resident, she was employed as an assembly line worker for the Risdon Corp. She was a member of the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge, the Hatters Drum Corp, and the Danbury Senior Center. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's church. Mrs. Saunders was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She is survived by four sons: William L. Saunders and his wife Margaret of Orlando, FL, Paul Saunders and his wife Mary of Danbury, Lionel (Frank) Saunders of Danbury, and James Saunders of South Portland, ME; 2 sisters: Katherine Gillotti of Kent and Carmella Fiore of Danbury; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Saunders; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Saunders; a sister Rose Gervasoni and brother Pasquale Gallo. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 10:45 am at St. Peter's Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in Great Plains Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 18, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury.
