Obituary of Zaverben S. Patel

Zaverben S. Patel August 15, 1916 - February 25, 2005 Zaverben S. Patel, 90, of Maplecrest Dr, Danbury, devoted wife of the late Shanabhai Patel, died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, February 25th. She was born in India on August 15, 1915, daughter of the late Somabhai and Ramben Patel. Mrs. Patel was devoted to the Hindu Faith and her quiet spirituality influenced many people in this Community as well as in India. She was the oldest United States Citizen of Indian origin in Danbury. She along with the Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton performed the flag ceremony on August15th , 2004; the first ever celebration of the India Day in Danbury. Her gentle nature made her a great spiritual leader. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Mrs. Patel is survived by her four sons, Pinakin and his wife, Mina of Danbury, Manubhai and his wife, Madhukanta of Danbury, Vithalbhai Patel of New Jersey, and Chandrakant and his wife, Varsha of Boston, MA.; her three daughters, Kapilaben Patel of New Jersey, Sharadaben and her husband, Sureshkumar of Danbury, and Manjulaben and her husband Arvindkumar of New Jersey. She is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren; and thirty-nine great grandchildren. Funeral Information The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Saturday, March 5th between the hours of 10:00am and 12:00 Noon. Cremation will follow at Charter Oak Crematory at 12:30pm.
