Obituary of Jeanette Warner Mayer

Jeanette Mayer January 11, 1923 - February 27, 2015 Jeanette Warner-Stone Mayer Jeanette Warner-Stone Mayer, 92, wife of the late Emil Mayer, died on February 27, 2015 at her home. She was born at home in Danbury, on January 11, 1923, daughter of the late Frank Martin and Jennie Warner Stone, and her late twin sister Dorothy. She graduated from Danbury High School, 1940 and the University of Connecticut, 1944. She was Baptized and Confirmed at the Danbury Methodist Church and where she married Emil Walter Mayer of NYC, October 19, 1947 and were married for 55 years. Emil and Jeanette moved from Floral Park, Queens to Brookfield in 1966. Professionally she was a teacher for 5 years at Winfred Wheeler Day Nursery School, Yorkville Section of Manhattan, NYC. At St. Paul's Kindergarten School, Floral Park, Queens for 9 years, and at Prince of Peace Nursery School Staff, 1979-1986. She used her extra-ordinary energy and faithfulness to support many local organizations and especially to The Girls Scouts, Church Woman United and her church Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She received The Girl Scouts Thank You Badge for 50 years of leadership. Jeanette recently received the CWU Human Rights award, unfortunately she passed away unexpectedly before she could attend the ceremony. The CWU's Human Rights Celebrations recognize "those who go the extra mile in defending the rights and freedoms of individuals". The CWU Human Rights Award, will now be presented, on April 11th at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brookfield. She received a certificate for 18 years of faithful service and Valiant Woman Award from the Greater Danbury Unit of Church Woman United. Jeanette was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Brookfield since 1966. She participated in many ways, especially music, Sunshine lady, greeter and remembering folks Birthdays and Anniversaries. Jeanette moved to The Village of Brookfield Common, March 2003 and participated in many activities available. She organized and directed Bell Choirs at seasonal music programs at The Village. She is survived by two her sisters, Shirley and her husband John of Sweden, ME and Nancy Wehr of Cantonsville, MD. She is also survived by her nieces Laureen, Pam, Susie and Jennifer. Nephews, Ted, Fred, Steve, Jon, David and Paul; her grand nieces and nephews, Jenny, Shauna, twins Leta and Lana, Phoebe, Brendan, Caileigh and Owen; and great grand nieces and nephews, Brayden, Sam, Martin, twins Lillian and Malcom, Eliza and Teegan. She will be missed by her friends Mark and Cindy Rosato of Brookfield and the Pierotti family of Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Ruth, Louise and, brother Frank, grand niece, Elsa Schueler and her grand nephew, Glen Mercer. Funeral Information A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 11th at 1:00 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Junction Rd, Brookfield. The Rev. Mark Nordskog will lead the Service and the Stone Family Choir will sing. Burial will be in the family plot in Wooster Cemetery. Donations Information Memorial gifts may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. At the Service there will be a "jar for pennies" to be shared with Church Women United for the "Fellowship of the Least Coin" collection.
