Anthony "Vic" Mattei, age 91 of Danbury, died on May 7, 2010 at Danbury Hospital. He was the widow of Emily (Reed) Mattei.
Mr. Mattei was born in Danbury on June 7, 1918, a son of the late Frank and Letica (Simoni) Mattei. He served with the 83rd Army Infantry during WWII and was a decorated Veteran. A lifelong Danbury resident, he was a hatter for over 40 years at the Frank H. Lee Hat Co. After his retirement he was employed as a foreman for Guard Precision.
Vic was a life member of VFW Post 149 and was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing at Richter golf course.
He is survived by his stepchildren: Robert E. Reed and his wife, Susan, of Danbury; James Reed and his wife, Sandra of Brookfield; Carol Ann Padgett and her husband Terrence of Wenton, NC; a niece, Donna Fujitani and her husband Thomas with whom he made his home; and a nephew: Alan Mattei of Woodbury. He had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all. Funeral Information
The funeral service will be private. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
