Obituary of Edward J. Markosky

Edward J. Markosky Jr. March 26, 1941 - July 04, 2004 Attorney Edward J. Markosky, Jr. died suddenly at his home on Crow's Nest Lane in Danbury on July 4, 2004. He was 63 and the husband of JoAnne (Murphy) Markosky. Ed was born in Danbury on March 26, 1941, son of the late Edward J. and Claire (Gaulin) Markosky. He graduated from Danbury High School, Class of 1959, The University of Connecticut in 1963 and the University of Connecticut Law School in 1966. He was admitted into the Connecticut Bar in 1966. An Army veteran of Vietnam, he served with the NATO Forces in Izmir Turkey and was discharged as Captain. As a Founding member of St. Gregory the Great Parish in Danbury, Ed served as a past member of the Lay Advisory Board and was currently a Eucharistic Minister and Lector for the Parish. His professional affiliations were with the Connecticut and American Bar Association. Edward was a devoted family man and enjoyed world travel. Besides his loving wife of 38 years Ed is survived by his cherished children, Christy Joy and her husband, Rob Harty and Karol Elizabeth Markosky, his adoring grandchildren, Grace Katherine and Abigail Charlotte Harty, all of Danbury. He is also survived by his sister Nancy and her husband Donald Kerins of California; his brothers-in-law and their spouces, William and Patricia, John F. and Virginia, Daniel J. and Cathy Murphy. His sister-in-law Winifred and her husband Warren Rice, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 8th at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, Great Plain Road, Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday, July 7th between the hours of 5 and 8pm. Donations Information At the request of the family, friends are asked to make memorial contributions to St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury, CT. 06811, rather than floral tributes.
