Obituary of Walter Kozak

Walter Kozak August 26, 1920 - March 27, 2004 Walter Kozak, 83 of Valerie Lane, Danbury, died Saturday, March 27, 2004 following a lengthy illness. Walter was the late husband of Dorothea (Anton) Kozak who passed in 2003. Mr. Kozak was born on August 26, 1920 in Yonkers, New York son of the late Andrew and Anna (Fesh) Kozak. He came to this community as young child attending Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury State Trade School. Walter joined the Army in 1943 and served in the Battle of Normandy, Rhineland, and central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, The American Theatre campaign ribbon, Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He was a member of Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing on a daily basis. He loved sports and when he was in High School he was the captain of the school Basketball team. Walter is survived by two sons: Robert W. Kozak of Brookfield, CT and Raymond C. Kozak and his wife Melanie of Walnut Creek, CA. One daughter: Karen A. Polacek of Croton on Hudson, NY. Five Grandchildren: Matthew, Scott, and Alexandria Kozak and Steven and Kimberly Polacek. Two Brothers: Frank Kozak of Lakewood, Colorado. and Joseph Kozak of Las Vegas, Nevada and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, on Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 with Mr. Kozak's Funeral service on Thursday at 11:00 with Rev. Daniel Wehmeier officiating at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.
