Obituary of Grazina Elenna Kenter

Danbury - Dr. Grazina Elenna (Knystautaite) Kenter, age 95, of Danbury, passed away peacefully at her home early in the morning on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2018. She was the widow of Dr. Ali M. Kenter.

 

Mrs. Kenter was born September 9, 1922 in Kedainai, Lithuania daughter of Zigmas and Marija (Rinkevicius) Knystautas. She studied music, art, horticulture, languages and medicine until she fled home during W.W. II. At the end of the war she finished medical school in Germany at the University of Erlangen and emigrated to the U.S.A. She qualified as an M.D. at the Cleveland Clinic, specializing in Anesthesiology. While in the Operating Room at the Cleveland Clinic she met her husband the late Dr. Ali Kenter... At heart she was an artist and made the most beautiful sculptures from things she would find. Her flower arrangements were stunning and prize winning. She was retired after working at her husband's medical practice for many years. She enjoyed floral arranging, was a member of the Danbury Garden Club, the International Club and a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury.

 

Mrs. Kenter is survived by her sons: Victor Kenter and his wife Kathleen of Guilford, Yunus Kenter of Miami, FL and Almus Kenter and his wife Andrea of Kingston, NH, her sister: Aldona Bigauskas of Toronto, Canada, 6 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Mrs. Kenter's funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St. Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
