Obituary of James T. White
James T. White, 70, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 8, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Teresa Hegarty-White.
Jim was born September 9, 1947, in Ridley Park, PA, son of the late James H. and Helen (Lynch) White. He attended St. James Catholic High School in Chester, PA, and remained a loyal Bulldog his entire life. Jim graduated from Memphis State University in 1969 and then enrolled in Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill, OK. He was commissioned as an officer and served as a Forward Observer with the 101st Airborne. Wounded in combat during his tour in Vietnam, he was awarded the Purple Heart. Returning home, he began a career in human resources, which quickly developed into a highly successful sales career after he hired himself for a medical sales position with 3M. His dedication to 3M and his customers led to many life-long friendships. His sales success, organizational strengths, and commitment to high ethical standards made him a sought-after mentor. He retired after 33 years of service to the company.
Jim was a talented musician who financed his college education playing saxophone in after-hours clubs in Memphis, TN. He passed his love of music onto his children, and he was an enthusiastic attendee at all their performances. Until his illness, he loved to sing and often shared his talent with his church choir. Jim was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Brookfield and was a frequent visitor to the Brookfield Library. When he retired, he embraced his inner bookworm and discovered a love of reading that brought him hours of enjoyment.
Jim was a devoted husband and loving, supportive father who worked ceaselessly to provide for his family. In addition to his wife of 30 years, Jim is survived by his daughter, Teresa, and son, James. He is also survived by his sister, Janice Krueger, of King of Prussia, PA. Dozens of nieces and nephews will remember his sense of humor, thoughtfulness, and kind heart.
The family would like to thank Dr. Vincent Rella, Maria Riberio, and the entire staff at the chemo infusion center of Danbury Hospital as well as Dr. Mark Urken and Cindy Ganz, Mt. Sinai/Beth Israel Hospital, NYC, for their love and devotion to Jim these past 10 years.
Friends will be received Friday, January 12, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Brookfield Funeral Home (786 Federal Road, Brookfield).
