Obituary of Betty Jean Martin

Danbury - Mrs. Betty Jean (Rockwood) Martin, age 92, of Danbury, died Saturday December 23, 2017 at her home. She was the widow of Robert Martin.

Mrs. Martin was born March 30, 1925 in Stamford, daughter of the late Horace Seymour and Elise Rockwood. She was a graduate of the Western Connecticut Teachers College, began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Goshen and retired from the New Canaan School system. She also taught Sunday school with her husband for many years. In addition to teaching, Betty Jean also loved camping and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughters: Susan Quimby and her husband James of New Milford, Christine Martin of Danbury and Linda Anderson and her husband Russell of New Milford and her two grandchildren: Robert Quimby and Jaime Anderson.

Private funeral services and burial in Mountain View Cemetery in New Fairfield will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
