He is predeceased by his parents Stewart and Ellen Hohenshelt and his brother Edward Hohenshelt. He grew up in Jackson Heights, NY and remained a true New Yorker his entire life. He was employed by the New York City Transit Authority for 35 years first as a Transit Police Officer and over the course of his career held almost every position there was until he finally retired in 2008 as a scheduling manager.
His greatest joys, in addition to spending quality time with his family, were bodysurfing at the beach, ocean cruising and attending live oldies music concerts. He was an avid dog lover and spent countless hours volunteering at local animal rescue shelters. He loved playing softball, basketball and football and in particular was always fond of his former teams and teammates on the MTA Token Resistance as well as his college intramural team the Big E’s.
