Obituary of Barbara A. Marra
Barbara (DelGuidce) Marra, 81, of Danbury, beloved wife of Fred A. Marra, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Monday, October 16, 2017. She was born in New Rochelle, NY on November 24, 1935, daughter of the late John and Katherine (Columbo) DelGuidce.
Mrs. Marra enjoyed working for the Danbury Public School System at Pembroke School. She held various positions in her twenty-five year career, including a teacher’s aide and a library aide in the media center. She also enjoyed volunteering with the Salvation Army Ladies Auxillary.
Mrs. Marra had many dear friends and always looked forward to getting together with the Gourmet Club for their themed dinners. She was a talented quilter and member of the Quilting Guild.
Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was happiest spending time with her family.
In addition to her devoted husband of 59 years, Fred, she will be sadly missed by her son, Jeffrey Marra and his wife, Gail; her daughter, Karen Newton and her husband, Richard; her eight grandchildren, Jacquelin Molden and her husband, Bradford, Jeff A. Marra and fiancé Kathleen DeAngelo, Lauren Marra and fiancé Bruce DeOlivera, Carolyn Marra, PJ Braun, Barbara Agostino and her husband, Rich, ToniMarie Gardella and her husband, Austin, and Rick Braun and his wife, Chelsea; and her eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Richard DelGuidce and his husband, Jack; and her sister, Debra Cooper.
She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Charla.
Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Saturday, October 21st , the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning between the hours of 9:30 and 11:30am. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
