Obituary of Gregory Antone Arnold
Gregory A. Arnold, 60, of Brookfield, devoted husband of Sue (Wallner) Arnold, died on Saturday, July 15, 2017, as the result of an accident. He was born in Danbury on March 31, 1957, son of Muriel A. (Hartop) Arnold of Danbury and the late Antone Arnold. He was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1976.
Greg was looking forward to retirement in South Carolina, after working for Connecticut Coining for 28 years.
Known as “Hammer,” by close friends and family, he will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, riding his Harley, and ability to set a roaring fire. He took great pride in caring for his lawn, was an avid NASCAR fan and muscle car enthusiast. Some of his happiest moments were spent working on his prize possession, a 1967 GTO, on which he taught each of his daughters how to change the oil and swap out a tire. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Giants, and the Yankees.
Most importantly, he was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be missed by all.
In addition to his mother, Muriel, and his wife of 33 years, Sue, he is survived by his three cherished daughters, Bridget Arnold and her fiancé, Tim Fagan, Kristina Checchia and her husband, Anthony, and Kimberly Arnold; his five grandchildren, Madison, Isabella, Maci, Zachary, and Maxwell; his brother, Lee Arnold and his wife, Lisa, and Mark Arnold; and his sister, Wendy Olejniczak and her husband, David. He is also survived by nieces, and nephews, Sean, Julia, Mark, Jimmy, David and Deanna.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Saturday between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00pm.
