Obituary of Anna Pauline Collier

Anna P. Collier, “HONEY”, age 87 of Danbury, passed away on Friday April 14th at Danbury Hospital after a brief illness, with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late Fred E. Collier. Anna was born June 26, 1929 in Danbury, the daughter of the late Paul J. and Anna (Drska) Vanek. A lifelong Danbury and Bethel area resident, she was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1947, and was employed with the Barden Corporation for over 35 years until the time of her retirement. Anna was a longtime parishioner of Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury, and a member of the TOPS group. She enjoyed playing bingo at the VFW, jigsaw puzzles, and trips to the Cape. She especially loved the time she got to spend with her five generation family. Anna is survived by her daughters: Elizabeth Michael and her companion Daniel M. Creedon of West Yarmouth, MA, and Cindy Miller and her husband Warren of Bethel, five grandchildren: Rebecca Dixon and her husband Kevin, Keith Miller and his wife JoAnna, , David Miller and his wife Kerri, Rhonda Odierna and her partner David Brunetti, Brian Miller and his wife Shannon, six great grandchildren: Dustin, Tiffani, Marcus, Tessa, Karleigh and Ava, one great great granddaughter: Lyla, one brother: John Vanek and his wife Monya of Alabama, three nephews: John, Kyle and Dwayne Vanek, one niece, Kelly Wolanski. Also survived by her friend and companion Francis Wilkes of Danbury. There will be no calling hours, and services will be held privately. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are requested to be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
