Obituary of Anthony Carmine DiMauro
Anthony C. DiMauro, 85, of Danbury, beloved husband of the late Vincenza (Zacchino) DiMauro, died peacefully at his home, in the presence of his family, on Wednesday, March 29th. He was born in Bronx, NY on November 2, 1931, son of the late Cesario and Josephine (Scamporlino) DiMauro. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church.
Mr. DiMauro was a Veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving with the United States Navy on the USS Waller DDE 446. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans, the Catholic War Veterans, and the Tin Can Sailors.
He was a past employee of the New York Railroad, and went on to work in sales for various companies. Upon retirement he enjoyed working for Car Quest.
Tony was known for his outgoing nature, and was always a gentleman. He enjoyed trips to the casino and had a sharp mind for numbers. His fondest memories included his time in the Navy, and those shared with his family and many friends who he loved dearly.
He will be sadly missed by his sons, Anthony P. and his wife, Janice of Boynton Beach, FL, Stephen V. and his wife, Cheryl, and Richard, all of Danbury; his daughter, JoAnn Lane and her husband, Edwin, of Ridgefield; his six grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Kristin and Nicholas A. DiMauro, Christopher DiMauro and his wife, Michelle, and Jessica Lane; and his two great grandchildren, Addison, and Ashton.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Ashley DiMauro; and his siblings, Vincenza, Carmella, Vincenzo, James, Lucia, Lucy, and Cesario.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 3rd at 10:30am at St. Gregory the Great Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00pm.
