Obituary of Frances Mildred Brechter

Frances (Luiszer) Brechter, 77, of New Fairfield, beloved wife of Ralph K. Brechter, died peacefully at Bethel Healthcare Center on Thursday, January 19th. She was born in Passaic, New Jersey on September 17, 1939, daughter of the late Frank and Violet (Tryanowski) Luiszer. Frances worked for 32 years as an insurance agent for Davis & Hoyt. A talented gardener, Frances cultivated both flower and vegetable gardens. She was also an artist, who enjoyed painting still life in oil. She shared her talent by teaching art classes in Long Island in her younger years. She also taught religious education at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Her teddy bear collection, which she started in childhood, holds cherished memories for her family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She loved to decorate with her army of Santa Claus Nutcrackers, teddy bear tree, and countless beautiful ornaments. Frances was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She will be sadly missed. In addition to her husband of 54 years, Ralph, she is survived by her cherished son, Robert K. Brechter and his wife, Darlene of Danbury; her brother, Frank Luiszer and his wife, Connie; her sister, Marie Vacek; and her sister-in-law, Mildred Edwards. She is also survived by her nephews, Bruce Edwards and his wife, Kathy, and Joseph Vacek and his wife, Jill; her niece BethAnn Louisa and her husband Paul; great nieces, Heather Edward; and great nephews, Chad and Brandon Edward, and Franco Vacek. Funeral Services will be held at the New Fairfield Congregational Church on Monday, January 23rd at 10:00am with Rev. Laura Westby officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, NY. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday, January 22nd between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Fairfield Congregational Church or to Regional Hospice and Homecare of Western Connecticut.
