Obituary of Anthony John Dalessio
Anthony J. Dalessio, 70, of Danbury, husband of the late Karen (Riedinger) Dalessio, died peacefully at his vacation home in Florida on December 13, 2016. He was born in Danbury on September 25, 1946, son of the late Russell J. and Lucy A. (Troccollo) Dalessio. He was a graduate of Danbury High School.
He was a Veteran of United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War, continuing beyond active duty with the Army Reserves.
Tony’s career in law enforcement started with the Connecticut State Troopers, Troop A in Southbury. In 1982 he became an inspector in the Office of the State’s Attorney and retired as Senior Inspector of Homicide. He was most proud of his accomplishments in the well known case of Richard Craft. In 1993 he was honored as a recipient of the prestigious Liberty Bell Award for his many contributions to our local justice system.
Tony was known for his love of cooking, annual lobster fest, and sharing Christmas dinners. He loved his family and was especially happy when babysitting and caring for his grandchildren.
Though his stature was one of strength and that of a “tough” protector, those closest to him knew his true gentle nature. During his retirement, he devoted himself to caring for his wife, Karen. During her debilitating illness, he attended to her every need with love and kindness.
Tony will be sadly missed by his daughter, Lorin Dalessio and her significant other, Doug Banks, of Danbury; his son, Christopher J. Dalessio and his fiancé, Britney Alfred; his six cherished grandchildren, Benjamin, Seth, Ryan, Sofia, Dominic and Jacob.
He was predeceased by his brother, Russell “Rusty” Dalessio.
Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Saturday, January 14th at 6:00pm.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00pm.
