Obituary of Patricia Ann Burke
Patricia (DeLong) Burke, 75, formerly of Danbury, beloved wife of David Burke, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday, December 19th at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA. She was born in Danbury on September 11, 1941, daughter of the late George and Anne (Trester) DeLong. She was predeceased by her brothers, George, Gary and Michael, and her beloved sister Deborah. She was raised in Bethel and graduated from Bethel High School Class of 1959.
Pat worked for many years as an administrator for the Housing Authority of Danbury.
Her greatest passion in life was her family, her beloved husband Dave, her five girls, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was proud of them all.
Pat was always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind. She loved cooking, knitting, music, bingo, taking care of her family, a good laugh over coffee with friends. One of her favorite things was, traveling for long weekend “girl getaways,” with her five daughters.
Pat will be remembered as a selfless, adoring wife and mother who always had a smile, even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength and always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. She never complained and always looked to a better future.
She is survived by her cherished husband of 55 years, David, and will be sadly missed by her five daughters, Catherine Giannone and husband, Frank, Colleen LaHood and husband, Tom, Darlene Corrie and husband, Terry, Patty Ann Rizzo and husband, Anthony, Jr., and Meghan Casali and husband, James; her twelve grandchildren, Michael Burke and fiancé, Valerie Mascara, Matthew Giannone, Katie Giannone, Cari Renn and husband, Steve, Kayla Velez and fiancé Josh Kushner, Madison Corrie, Anthony Rizzo III, Chelsie Rizzo and fiancé Mike Kaptein, Ryan Rizzo, Jimmy, Joshua, and Jack Casali; and her four great grandchildren, Jeter Gavel, Lexi, Grayson and Mia Renn. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 28th, at St. Mary Church in Bethel. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
