Obituary of Nancy C. Peterson

Nancy C. Peterson, age 84, long time resident of Newtown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Danbury Hospital on Friday, October 28, 2016. She was born in Staten Island, NY, a daughter of the late Henry and Constance (Raab) Carsten. She graduated with her B.S. in Education from Wagner College in Staten Island and became an elementary school teacher. She taught in several states including, New York, New Jersey and Virginia. After her retirement from teaching, she worked for a financial brokerage house as an administrative assistant. She prided herself in being one of the first and most loyal fans of the UConn Women's Basketball team; she loved her dogs; and her passion was the New York Times crossword puzzles. She was a friend of Bill's for 22 years. Nancy was a caring mother, grandmother, and sponsor. She is survived by her loving children: Carole Brodey of Wolcott, Eric (Luisa) Peterson of North Andover, MA, and Mark (Nadene) Peterson of Newtown; 7 adoring grandchildren: Carly, Noah, and Nash Ericson; Natalie and Robert Peterson, and Jeffrey and Cally Peterson; a nephew: Richard Meyer; a niece: Karen Meyer Roth; her caregiver, Maria and many extended family and friends that will miss her dearly. Nancy was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Meyer; niece, Marilyn Roberts; and special friend, Allan McLean. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 5,2016 at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St, Danbury. Interment will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 until the time of the service at 11:00. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the ASPCA at www.aspca.org.
