Obituary of Frieda Caroline Serpa

Frieda Serpa, 96, of Brookfield, died peacefully on Sunday, October 9th at Laurel Ridge in Ridgefield. She was born Frieda Carleo to the late Vincent and Frieda Carleo in her beloved Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York. A lover of Big Band music and dancing, fittingly she met her devoted husband, the late Vincent Serpa, at a dance in the park. They were married for more than 60 years. Frieda was a skilled crochet beader and created lovely bridal embellishments. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Rose Gallo and her husband, Michael, and Elisa Nelson and her husband, John; her five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 12th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel, will follow. The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Tuesday, October 11th, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canterbury School, Vincent Nelson Scholarship, 101 Aspetuck Avenue, New Milford, CT 06776; or to St. Coletta of WI/IL, 4955 Highway 18, Jefferson, WI 53549.
