Obituary of Mary Romano
Mary Romano was born March 26, 1933, to David and Lucia Thomas in Mocanaqua, Pennsylvania, the youngest of six children. She grew up in Pennsylvania, and graduated in 1951 from Garrison, Memorial High School in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania.
She married on December 4, 1954, to Sebastian aka John Romano, from Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
In 1959 they moved to Danbury, Connecticut, and were members of First Assembly of God Church.
Mary work as Secretary and Office Manager in Connecticut until her retirement in 1998. She was also church organist and accompanist for the sanctuary choir, as well as a choir member. In 2004 they moved to Port Orange, Florida, and became members of Victorious Life Church. They lived in Florida until June 2012, when they moved to Springfield, Missouri.
Mary has gone on 6 MAPS Missions Trips with the church in Danbury, CT., to the following countries: Ecuador, Jamaica, Canary Islands, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, and Japan.
Mary has four children: David L. Romano of Swanzey, New Hampshire, John S. Romano of Bethel, Connecticut, Angela A Magrino and Vincent R. Romano of Danbury, Connecticut. She also has two grandchildren: John J. Romano of Southbury, Connecticut and Jessica R. Romano of Swanzey, New Hampshire.
Mary professed Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 11 years, and now shares in her heavenly inheritance. Her favorite Bible Scriptures are:
Proverbs, 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Psalms 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, o Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”
Services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016, at First Assembly of God Church, Brookfield, CT, with visitation from 11:00 - 12:00 noon, and funeral services to begin at 12:00 noon. Mary will be laid to rest following services at Prince of Peace Cemetery, Brookfield, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International to purchase Bibles.
