Robert Bernard Piorkowski, Jr died Friday, April 22, 2016 One of God's Greats has passed on. There was no more faithful soldier for Christ; through every adversity Bob was a positive ray of light. He touched the heart and soul of every person that he encountered. His genuine compassion and heart for people was immeasurable. Co-owner of The Video House in Bethel for many years. "Big Bob" and Uncle Bob to many he always gave love without measure. This endearing and most beloved man who was unable to walk for over 40 years from a spinal cord injury that occurred in college, is now able to run. Survived by his loving wife Patti Wirag-Piorkowsi of Bethel; sisters Christine P. Chapman of Bethel, Karen (Thomas) McLaughlin of Virginia and Ann Lyssenko of Chicago; brothers and sisters- in-law John (Deborah) Wirag of New York, Walter (Debbie) Wirag of New York, Elizabeth (William) Grosse of Bridgewater and Carol Piorkowski of Bethel; nieces and nephews Yvonne A. Chapman of Bethel, Kelly McLaughlin of Virginia, Christopher McLaughlin of Virginia, Jessica Humiston of New York, Amanda Wirag of Danbury, Wayne Wirag of New York, John Spencer Wirag of Texas, William Grosse of New Milford, Brian Grosse of Bridgewater, Amy Dexter of New Milford and Matt Jancewicz of Utah. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Meita Piorkowski of Bethel and his brother John Piorkowski also of Bethel. The family would like to thank Danbury Hospital and Bethel VNA's dedicated staff and Danbury Ambulance who were like family. A wake will be held at Cornell Memorial Home on White Street, Danbury on Thursday April 28th from 5pm - 8pm, with a prayer service at 7:30pm. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bob's name to the American Cancer Society. http://m.cancer.org
