Obituary of Michael John Stavola
Michael John Stavola, age 62 of Danbury, died unexpectedly at Danbury Hospital on Monday, February 8, 2016. He was the devoted husband of Cindy (Smith) Stavola.
He was born in Danbury on May 8, 1953, a son of the late Patrick and Mary (Jazinski) Stavola. He attended Danbury schools and ran Danbury Auto Wrecking with his father until the age of 20. He was a truck driver for Danbury Public Works and was a special police officer for the City of Danbury. For five years he was a Police Officer for the town of Bethel. Mike was a Postal Supervisor at the Bethel and Norwalk Post Offices from which he retired after a long career. He was an honorary member of the Padanaram Fire Dept. and a member of the American Legion and Catholic War Veterans.
In addition to Cindy, his wife of 39 years, he is survived by his daughters: Jennifer Staton and her husband Joseph of and Sharon Stavola all of Danbury; 2 grandchildren: Karina and Kaydan Staton; 2 sisters: Patricia Loughman and her husband Patrick of Newtown, and Susan Jordan and her husband (David) of Waterbury; brothers: John "Tony" Stavola of Florida and Patrick Stavola and his wife, Carol of Bethel; his father-in-law: Alfred Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law: Debbie and Skip Voytek, Melissa and Mike Hrabsak, and Diane Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Church, 8 Robinson Ave., Danbury; burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel. There are no calling hours.
