Obituary of George H. Underhill

George 'Skip' H. Underhill, III, 59, of Danbury died peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2016 at the Regional Hospice and Home Care. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Barriere) Underhill. Skip was born in Mount Kisco, NY, a son of the late George H. Underhill, Jr. and Jane (MacDonald) MacLellan and her husband, Robert of Torrington. Skip was a graduate of Brookfield High School, class of 1975. He continued his education at Mattatuck Community College earning an A.S. Criminal Justice. Prior to his illness, he was self employed as an Independent Arnold Bread Distributor. He also worked as a supervisor for Perkin Elmer; and a dispatcher for the Brookfield Police Department. He enjoyed woodworking creating crafts that he and Ann would sell at craft shows. Skip was a member of Danbury Masonic Lodge #40. Skip and Ann shared a passion for rescuing and sheltering dogs who had been abandoned or abused. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, and Papa who enjoyed being with his family. In addition to Ann, his wife of 38 years, and his mother, he is survived by 2 children: George H. Underhill IV of Danbury and Shannon Stewart and her husband, James of Waterbury; 3 grandchildren: Zachary Underhill, Leah and Colin Stewart; a brother: Wesley Underhill (Wendy) of Brookfield; 2 sisters: Sharon Bissonnette (Guy) of RI and Gail Pichiarallo of Danbury; a brother-in-law: Paul E. Barriere Jr. (Diane) of Bethel; and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 7:00PM at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 7:00. There will be a Masonic Service at 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ann's Place or to the New Milford Animal Shelter.
