Obituary of Joseph P. Siok

Joseph P. Siok April 30, 1917 - November 12, 2003 Joseph P. Siok, 86, of Newtown, son of the late Marcel and Mary Siok of Housatonic, Mass., has passed away peacefully at Harborside Glen Hill on November 12, 2003. He was born in Great Barrington, Mass. on April 30, 1917. Mr. Siok was a graduate of Great Barrington Searles High Schools and the Berkshire Business School in Pittsfield, Mass. He worked for the New Haven Railroad, Penn Central Railroad and Conrail, retiring in 1981 after 40 years of service as Area Manager-Field Terminals N.E. Region. He received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal after serving in the U.S. Army with the 728th Railroad Battalion. He participated in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8183, Housatonic, Mass. 728th R.O.B. Indianapolis, Ind. and the 2nd M.R.S. Chicago, Ill. Throughout his many years of retirement, Mr. Siok was an avid golfer and so enjoyed the accomplishments of his grandchildren and then the great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Aleacia Garvansites, formerly from Hudson, N.Y.; daughters, Jo-Ann Nachajski and her husband Richard of Springfield, Va. and Patricia Tallman and her husband Rev. Preston Tallman; three grandchildren, Stephen Parzuchowski and wife Linda of Roxbury, Jennifer Lewis and husband Jordon of Centreville, Va. and Becky Linster and her husband Brian of Danbury. There are 10 great-grandchildren, Michelle, Kevin and Nichole Parzuchowski, Bristol and Mallory Lewis and Matthew, Tyler, Caren, Marissa and Rachael Linster. He is also survived by a sister, Victoria Coleman of Atlanta, Ga. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church, Cottage St., Danbury on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bridgette Cemetery, Great Barrington, Mass.
